French Creek Disc Golf Course Review (Elverson, PA)

The basket of hole 17 at French Creek Disc Golf Course

Let’s talk about the unique and challenging French Creek Disc Golf Course in Elverson, PA. I’m not one for long intro, so let’s dive right in to my review!

Course Difficulty

One thing that makes this course special is its two-in-one design. Each tee spot has not one, but two baskets – one close silver basket, and a farther, trickier (and funner, IMO) gold basket.

Granted, this course has some tough moments. Some folks find the rough patches frustrating, and there’s no denying that a few of the longer baskets seem rather ambitious. Bagging a birdie on these giants feels like scoring a slam dunk from across the court!

Yet this course is far from being impossible to tackle. Some players even love the challenge this course offers with its tightly arranged trees and brush. Still, managing to score on these tough holes feels all the sweeter for the hard work you’ve put in.

French Creek Layout

The course doesn’t only create disc golfing challenges for you. It also teaches you the importance of shot placement, with some of the holes demanding precise landing zones, making the game even more strategic and exciting. There’s always a new layer of mastery to uncover!

Elevation changes are another great feature of the French Creek course. You’ll find yourself using a varied range of discs to hit different lines – having a variety of different discs and weights is absolutely clutch at this course.

Also, let’s take a moment to appreciate the natural beauty here. This course is nestled charmingly in a richly wooded area, with the colors of fall being nothing short of a feast for the eyes. However, prepare to hit some trees as well on this course.

Tee Pads

Let’s not forget about the grippy and well-maintained tee pads that give players a steady footing. However, get ready for some walking and hiking too. It’s not just a test of your throwing prowess but your stamina as well.

Of course, it does not come without its small drawbacks – like the somewhat older baskets that can be hard to see. However, the good signage and maintenance efforts make up for these small downsides.

My Review

This course may feel daunting for beginners, but it’s also a great opportunity to learn and improve. The silver course is a great place to start, while the gold course offers more advanced challenges for seasoned players.

All in all, French Creek has something for everyone. So lace up your boots, bring your A-game, and come experience what this challenging yet rewarding disc golf course has to offer. And remember friends, whether you’re hitting trees or scoring birdies, the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the game!
